Blogger is stoopid today.

But that was not my intended post. Today I went to meditation school.

I woke up a titch late and downed a cup of joe... pulled on yoga pants and a head band and ran out the door. (17 minutes to the temple fyi, in non-rush hour traffic)....

Buddihsm has a lot of rules. They don't give them to you on a pamphlet... at all.

RULE 1 - do not come in the front door. (uhm, my bad, do you want me to go out and go around?)

RULE 2 - bring spare shoes. When you are standing in the illegal enterance in your grody beach feet, holding flip flops, they look at you like (well, you're here NOW.... you might as well go in)!

RULE 3 - during the walking meditation, do not be distracted by the fact that they painted EVERYTHING in GOLD. It's like a total distraction to those of us GIRLS with ADD.... I'm like ooooh, another pretty sparking thing, wonder what it me.... WAIT! yells the Guardian....

RULE 4 - Do not flit with your gaze (in your grody unshod beach feet). We are meditating people... meditate in the moment. Walk. Do not think. just Walk.

Walking meditation is followed by seated meditation, followed by walking meditation, followed by chanting. (I was seriously having a good time)....

Cunning Observation.... - wow! I can really meditate. One half hour without movement. Only breath and I wasn't bored or itchy or anything. I breathed and felt oddly floaty (?)

RULE 5 - Walking meditation after seated meditation can be tough when you have failed to notice one leg has fallen asleep. Night of the Living Zombies staggering about here peepul. serious.

RULE 6 - (this one didn't get me, but the chick next to me... she got burnt!) Eat with both hands. I knew this. Hold the bowl. Bring the food to the bowl or add it to the bowl and then in the mouth. Don't eat like cattle.

RULE 7 - no talking. like ever.

RULE 8 - (girl next door got it again!) Never take more food than you can eat.... Her boyfriend picked up the slack (or extra food) during the lecture on Dharma.

AND the final kick in the junk?

the 5 tenets of the meal... and then I start crying and I think that I won't be able to stop.

1) Be respectful of the effort that causes the food to be offered to you.
2) Take only what you need
3) Know that your acts make you worthy of sharing this meal.
4) Arrive at the table without negativity.
5) Come to this table as above knowing that this food then, is like medicine.

So, I sit silenly crying trying to judge if I am worthy of sharing this meal, offered in love and prepared for me by others... and I am thinking, that I am not so worthy.

It's 2:51am. So, I'm sending off some emails, let the dogs out for a quick cat chase around the yard... proof reading a paper... took some advil (neck spasm from Friday, still sore)...

Steve taught me this cool thing about not sleeping. Don't sweat it. The worst that can happen is you are a little tired. You'll make it up another day. So, I get up. I putz around and then when I am done putting away some pieces of the day, I go back to bed and sleep.

Once you stop hating "not sleeping" it really is okay.

Me – How was your tour? I think she gave up on her prince. Did ya have a good time?? Aaarrrh? (me attempting to make pirate-like noises)…

Pirate #1 – Arrrrrrgggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhgh.!!!!!!!!!! For sure we had a great time. I thought you were coming to the parade?

Me – I had some boring old clients. In the sober light of day, I couldn’t cancel on them at the last minute. So, I was a good realtor as I am sure you were a good pirate!

Pirate #1 – Damn right. But I try to stay out of the sober light of day.

Another beautiful afternoon in the Maple Lounge... The thing I love about the Maple Lounge is the free wine and the red thai curry soup... I can safely say that I have had more bowls of wine than of soup... but it is pretty good.

You wonder what all these people do to warrant first class tickets in this economy? Now I know that we in Western Canada are doing better economically than most of the world (hello? Greece, Ireland and the US) and what are they going to do to turnaround the EU? AND REALLY?! what are they going to do when interest rates rise in the US? I, personally am advising clients to save their money and prepare to buy vacation homes in the US.

I do love the Maple Lounge but it seems a decadent extravagence, but really can be had for anyone with $20. So, how exclusive can it be? That really is the nub of it... Prestige is an illusion... perpetuated by the few...

I booked a personal trainer. She's like a good 20 years older than me and has the body of a 16 year old. Anybody that can bring it like this lady is the lady for me. Wish me luck, blogging to be much more realistic as we will be following my progress... I am totally... going... to tell... you... argh... my measurements... ohgod.... and will be boring you with progress reports.

The idea is that I will be running again in 8 weeks. Does anybody else have something they want to achieve and share?

frick... So, the kid wants quiche... for dinner. Quiche? Are you sure? YES, MOM... in that tone that infers that I am the stoopid one... So, we buy the tart shells and bacon and head for home. I walk ze goggies and come home and bake off the shells. Fry up the bacon, drain and start the onions... mix carmelized onions and bacon and fill the cups with that mix and the guyere.... fill with egg and cream and bake.

Did I mention that I HATE quiche, but I LOVE my disrespectful kids... SOOOOO....

They are done and they are beautiful and they are bubbly and cheesy and super bacony/oniony and I bite in expecting all that love to have transcended mere quiche... and something's weird. What the hell?

They are? Bublette I yell... what's with the quiche? and we both say (at the same time) SWEETENED?!

We bought sweetened tart shells. They are still better than store bought quiche.

You know what I realized? I have loved Levi Jeans my entire life... AND then, she looks at me... and I am staring at her, in a most UN-canadian way, and she keeps tweezing. I hit 80km within 4 seconds (god, love the germans)... but the mental image is another two glasses of wine before being gone.. maybe three...

My friend (dubious distinction), who I will now refer to as "AAS" or "Annoying American Stupidhead" and I were talking back and forth about how Canada is going to KICK AMERICAN HEINY (my blog, my version).

And as usual the exchange drills down to who has the greater ability to insult the other first...

AAS: This was the Yahoo headline photo. You didn't have a love child when you were dating that minor league hockey team, did you?

ohmigod. It was amazing... went to dinner at Italian Kitchen a couple of nights ago...

S'aright... as it usually is... but the thing that is AMAZING about Italian Kitchen has always been the forno trout... Well, I don't have a forno and tonight, I didn't have a trout... but I did have a sweet maui onion, some garlic and fennel...

So, we recreate the magique, oui?

So, heat the pan (stainless steel, heavy bottom). Pan fry 1/4 cup onion with 1/4 cup fennel, add 1 tsp garlic (chopped) and salt. When wilted, remove and save. Re-heat pan and when hot again, add some EVOO. Throw (?) in steelhead (freshwater salmon) skin side down. Salt, pepper, reduce to medium high. Place under broiler until (not quite)cooked through.

Remove filet with skin and serve with a schmakerel of the onion/fennel... ohmigod... gift, really, from above to mortals everywhere.

I think it's time to update the website and start doing some serious marketing. Rather than try and do all of that my self, I have been interviewing virtual assistants.

Most people laugh at the concept of interviewing anything virtual, but really, why pay for infrastructure you don't need? Shouldn't small business, support other small businesses?

So, with fingers crossed, I am waiting for a quote from a lovely lady that I would love to work with.

Look forward to the new advertising campaign coming soon... It will be easy to guage the ROI.

For those of you that know me, my first year in real estate went very well. I did a lot of business with some really great people. I didn't have to advertise and I had some rocking results. What is really important is that I met some GREAT people in the meantime. Scott Dawson is one of those guys. Not only is he friendly and smart, but he has this "just wanna' hang out with him" vibe. Cleansing breath! What a day... On one hand, I'm not getting flailed in the news... the streets aren't shut down like London and I have a 6 hill run to look forward to. A tight achillies and that's about it! That half marathon is looming in the very near future and I am already looking for the next goal.

Today, it feels like that goal should be KICKBOXING... I just want to hit something :)

Guess the run will have to do. What do you do with your excess energy, if you can't kick heiny?

Most of my mornings start one of two ways... run the dog or walk the dog. Either way it's kinda' sucky getting up really early to do it. But one little look of that puppy dog eyes, and I am gone... in my morning gear, rain or shine, just me and the dog.

This morning was a coast (run wise). All cool (temp wise) and no rain. I head out into the Bog and run into the first coyote of the season. A little late in the season but the first one I've seen with the dog. I knew one day it would happen, but was suprised at the reaction of both. Most coyotes have run away when I come upon them alone. However, today, the coyote turned to watch and Ozz met his gaze and they just stared. It was like they were acknowledging their "wolfness".

Ozz is really a willful beast. At three months shy of two years old, the puppy brain is still strong in him. A whole bunch of puppy training, guidance and treats have been administered and I can now see a glimmer of hope. Maybe I am just beginning to understand why people love dogs so much. It makes getting up at 6am tolerable. JUST.
